A major US toy maker is recalling 1.5 million Chinese-made toys because of high levels of lead in the paint.

The recalled toys made for Mattel’s Fisher-Price range include popular pre-school characters like Elmo and Big Bird along with dozens of other items.

The recall comes amid heightened concern worldwide about the safety of China’s exports. Mattel said it had isolated two-thirds of the affected toys before they reached the shelves. In the United States, the Fisher-Price toys were sold nationwide between May and August.

Preschool Toys - Little People

Preschool Toys No Comments

blocks.jpgWhen people come over to visit us they always notice that we have a ton of toys. We always say "We buy toys we like to play with too."

The reason is, it is so much more fun to play with the kids when it is toys we all like to play with. We really like to buy them fisher price little people. There are a ton of them, but we love to play with them with the boys. They like to stand them all up and knock them over, identify the animals, name the people, etc. This teaches them colors, the animals, and other identification qualities.

We even use them to teach. By playing the who is game we can set up a ton of the little people and knock them over when they aren’t it. We also set up all the vehicles and teach them the different jobs and places the little people go. This helps to teach them about others in the community. They also have special ones that they named after people in their family, their aunt, grama, grandpa, etc.

The point is try to buy toys that you will enjoy playing with too, it just makes it a more fun all around experience.

Toddler and Preschool Activity- Playing with Foam Blocks

One of my favorite things to play with, with the kids is their set of Imaginarium Alphabet foam blocks. My husband and I purchased them from Toys R Us over a year ago. We had a date night and the kids had been going through one of those phases where they liked to throw things, so when we

We brought them home and sure enough they did throw them, but this time no crying. YAH!!! We took the time to teach them not to throw them, but they are boys and they love being destructive, so they still like to knock them all over the place while we build things with them.

We have also used these blocks as the oldest who is almost 4 is learning how to spell simple words like car, dad, mom, and his name. The colors and pictures are simple and great. So I found them to be a wonderful learning tool as well as fun toy. For only $10 what more could you ask for.
