Easter is in just over a week and it is sometimes difficult to come up with Easter ideas that really center around Jesus and celebrating his resurrection.
There are of course many coloring pages you can print out, but the fun thing about crafts is they give you time to discuss things more, such as the story behind the craft.
Having thought about this I wanted to share with you a couple of craft ideas you can do with preschoolers to bring out the True spirit of the Easter holiday.
First up is Foam Cross Magnets
These are pretty easy to make, all you need is some of those foam sheets from the craft stores and little magnets for the back. You can purchase other foam stickers to go with the spring theme as well. Prior to the craft cut out a cross for each child (their favorite color if you can) then during the craft you can tell them how great Jesus was and how the cross is part of Easter.
Based on your own religion and how ready your children are you can tell them about Jesus dying on the cross, the resurrection and sin. As for the part about sins, if you tell them that once in awhile people are naughty and do things God will not like they are sinning, they might understand. Where bringing up death to a 3 year old might cause them more questions they can’t understand yet. But it is different for each person, so gauge your own stories about Easter and Jesus.
Another craft you might be interested in doing with you children is about their hand prints and making a wreath out of them. You can trace your child’s hands and then cut them out on spring like colors of construction paper. Next allow them to decorate with quotes you write for them from the bible that coincide with Easter and the Resurrection. There are lots of ways to do this, and I am sure you will have lovely wreaths in the end.
I will try to post more ideas as I have them about Easter, hopefully soon too, so you will have time to do them.
