If you have a dog this is going to be an easy theme to cover. Here is what you can do if you have a dog: Take your dog for a walk with the little ones. Talk to them about how important it is for the doggy to get daily walks and point out how much the doggy likes going for a walk. If possible let the kids take turns holding the leash and walking the dog.
Give doggy a bath. This will be fun for everyone if it is really nice outside. The bubbles will entertain the kids while the doggy is getting clean. Talk about baths and how everyone, even the doggie needs to take baths to keep clean.
Read a doggie book. We all have them. If not you can grab one at the library for a couple of weeks and read the stories. Look at books to see different kinds of dogs and sizes and even name them if you can. Show the kids how dogs come in all sorts of sizes, colors and fur.
If you don’t have a dog take the kids to a friends or family’s house who does. You can also take them to the humane society and show them the doggies there. Spend the day checking out doggies and their sounds and what they do.
Make sure you let the kids act like doggies by walking on all fours and barking. Also here is a good craft to do with them and a link to a good coloring page of dogs and puppies.
